Come join us for a fun and hands-on Willow Basket-Making Workshop where you can learn the art of weaving beautiful traditional willow baskets
Come join us for a fun and hands-on Willow Basket-Making Workshop! Learn the traditional craft of weaving willow baskets from Michael’s fiber studio at her farm in Dexter, Michigan. This in-person workshop will teach you the skills needed to create your very own beautiful and functional baskets. No experience necessary, all materials will be provided.
We’ll discuss how to forage, harvest, and process a wide range of plants that make wonderful allies in basket weaving and a host of tips on how to access these plant allies, whether you live on 20 acres or even the 5th floor of an apartment complex with no yard.
This class is well-suited for beginners and intermediate weavers, ages 12+ (however, caregivers may be able bring along younger children to accompany them and assist with their weaving project without need of extra tickets if we have the space. Email [email protected] to check and be sure we have room!)
Where: Hickory Nut Farmstead in Dexter, MI (address provided on registration)
We’ll take a lunch break, so consider bringing along a sack lunch to eat in the workshop. A full kitchen (fridge, stove, sink, & microwave) are on hand in the studio.
The workshop will be held at our farm in Dexter, Michigan. Although there is a flight of stairs, it can be easily accessed by an automated (and honestly rather fun) stairlift. The bathroom and entry way are also equipped with handrails. The instructor reserves the right to cancel (for a full refund) for illness, emergency, or if an inadequate number of participants register.
Select “pick up” at checkout, but note there’s no need to come out here. We’ll email you the class details!
