We periodically receive inquiries about teaching weaving and gardening workshops in our area.

Concerning gardening, we’re currently preparing tailored workshop materials in conjunction with a permaculture cooperative in our bioregion. We’re limited in time this season, but please check back early 2024 for more information. Maybe.

It’s also totally possible we’ll punt on this for another year while I adjust to beginning to teach willow. In the meantime, some of our 2024 willow classes will specifically focus on combining weaving with ecological restoration and land stewardship efforts through collaboration with Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation. Keep an eye out for these upcoming weaving/gardening hybrid options below.

Concerning weaving, we are very excited about beginning to teach basic willow weaving and furthering the tradition of place-based craftsmanship in our community. However, we are limited in weaving materials at the moment while our basketry field establishes itself, which restricts our ability to teach very many students. Between our growing willow field, wildtending efforts, and partnerships with farms in our bioregion, we thankfully still have some amount of spare willow to share! We are beginning to offer intimate-sized weaving classes at our small farmstead as well as periodic small workshops around our wider community. Keep checking below for upcoming learning opportunities or join our mailing list to be the first to hear more. We often have lodging available for any coming from out of town for a small additional fee!

Most of our classes are offered on a 3 tiered sliding scale (with the exception of some teaching venues that have their own established pricing system). Sliding scale is a system we believe in and would like to see more of in our community–so we’re using it. Read more about sliding scales and how to determine where you fall on a scale HERE.
